Litany of War, a preview of Deathwatch for July 2010 - June 2011 (web quality pdf, 2.4 MB)

For those who are unable to download or read the PDF currently, here is a brief review of the titles mentioned.

The Emperor Protects (Available Fall 2010): A trilogy of linked adventures lead a Deathwatch Kill-team across the Jericho Reach in an attempt to stop a vile conspiracy that threatens the fate of dozens of worlds. The Space Marines must face unique challenges ranging from bringing a planet of proud natives into the Imperium to rooting out a malicious plot within the heart of the Crusade itself. Action, intrigue, and mystery await! Only the Space Marines can stand up to such a threat... is your Kill-team ready for the task?

Rites of Battle (Available Winter 2011): Rites of Battle is a sourcebook about the inner workings of the Deathwatch. Extensive guidelines for creating your own Space Marine Chapter, new advanced specialities, expanded rules for power armour, and new rules for vehicles make this book an important resource. Rites of Battle also provides detailed information about Watch Fortress Erioch, the centre of Deathwatch activity in the Jericho Reach. This section helps the GM present a Kill-team with a unique challenge.

Mark of the Xenos (Available Spring 2011): The duty of the Deathwatch is to destroy the alien foes of Mankind, wherever they hide. Mark of the Xenos is a comprehensive collection of aliens, daemons, and other vile enemies of the Imperium that lurk within the Jericho Reach. From the Tyranid swarms of Hive Fleet Dagon to the expeditionary forces of the Tau Empire, Mark of the Xenos provides GMs with worthy foes for the might of the Space Marines.

The Achilus Crusade (Available Summer 2011): The Jericho Reach has long been forgotten by the forces of the Imperium... until the arrival of the Achilus Crusade. An ancient warp gate links this war-torn region of space to the other side of the galaxy, and the Crusade will stop at nothing to secure it for the Imperium. The Achilus Crusade details numerous worlds and operations touched by the Crusade providing both players and GMs with the tools to plan new missions and adventures for their Kill-team.

This may be one of the last video interviews to come out of E3 regarding Dark Millennium. As it does not seem I can embed the video here, you will need to goto the link below to see it.

Link: http://angryjoeshow....w40k-interview/

Some information from the video: They (Vigil) are not sure that players will be able to play as Space Marine chapters other than what they provide as playable; e.g. no setting up your own chapter. The question of 'Artificial Alliances' & Factions was also asked, but no real answer was given other than "We are working closely with Games Workshop" on these issues.

It seems the Space Marine console game is also coming to Windows PCs as well and is no longer exclusive to the 360 or PS3.

Recently it was revealed that Dark Millennium was utilizing the game engine developed for Darksiders. As Darksiders is getting a port to the PC, it only makes sense that one could look at its system requirements for a hint as to what to expect. Bear in mind this is just speculation, the actual system requirements (minimum and recommended) could be lower or higher than those listed for Darksiders.

Quote

Minimum:

OS: Windows XP SP3, Vista SP1, Windows 7
Processor: AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3800+ 2.4Ghz, Intel Pentium 4 530 3.0Ghz Processor
Memory: 1GB RAM (Windows XP), 2GB RAM (Vista / Windows 7)
Graphics: ATI Radeon X1900 or NVIDIA GeForce 8800/GeForce GT220 with 256MB of Video RAM
DirectX®: DirectX 9.0c
Hard Drive: 12GB free hard drive space
Sound: DirectX 9.0C compatible sound card

Recommended:

OS: Windows XP SP3, Vista SP1, Windows 7
Processor: AMD Athlon 64 X2 5200+ Dual Core 2.60Ghz, Intel Core 2 Duo E6420 Dual Core 2.13Ghz
Memory: 2GB RAM (Windows XP), 3GB RAM (Vista / Windows 7)
Graphics: ATI Radeon HD 3870 or NVIDIA GeForce GTS 240 with 256MB of Video RAM
DirectX®: DirectX 9.0c
Hard Drive: 12GB free hard drive space
Sound: DirectX 9.0C compatible sound card

Based on this information, I do not personally expect the minimum requirements to be less than the minimums listed for Darksiders. Frankly I would actually be a bit surprised if they were. This is based on the assumption that Dark Millennium will be at least as resource intensive as Darksiders; albeit for different reasons at times.

Naturally I do not recommend making any DMO-related computer purchase or planning till we know for sure. However as they can really only test and develop the game with currently available hardware, I would not expect the final requirements to be too obscene. Hopefully this is something we will be able to get more information about either later this year or sometime next if at all possible.

Greetings all!

As has been previously stated by the folk behind Dark Millennium "More information will be available at gamescom in August 2010."

As we are now just about a month away from when gamescom opens in Germany, I thought it would be worthwhile to speculate a little on what we may be able to expect. As some folk may recall I made some similar speculation prior to this year's E3 in the Conservative guess on what to expect from the E3 40k reveal thread. Bear in mind I could be totally wrong with my speculation here, but that is all part of the fun, neh?

Gameplay Footage Video: Probability Good
Alongside any additional net new information we receive about the game, I do expect the chance is fairly good that we may see some more in-game footage as well. As folk should recall the teaser/trailer we got from E3 was generated with the in-game engine so it may be wise to expect to see more of the same. As things are still fairly early, I expect we will only see snippets of scenes spliced together to create a montage of scenery, combat scenes and so forth.

Playable Options: Probability Fair
In theory we did not get much of this information out of E3. While folk are likely to expect many of the shown options, such as the Space Marines, to be playable we do not yet know for sure. One of the bits of information we may be able to look forward to is some kind of confirmation as to the exact playable options. At the very least we may only get the playable factions listed, such as Imperium, Chaos, Orks and so forth. I think the chance is fair that at least one, if not all, of the initial playable factions will be covered.

Playable Demo: Probability Poor
Unless the game is a lot further along than we have been lead to believe, I do not think a playable demo is in the cards for gamescom. This is something I think we are more likely to see at a convention next year at the earliest. It would be nice to be wrong on this score though!

One Faction vs. Multiple Factions: Probability Fair
I would like to think that the controversy surrounding the spread of playable factions must be known to the folk behind the game. As it is never wise to let issues like this go on too long without some kind of response, I think the probability is fair that this specific aspect of the game may be addressed. While I do hope we learn that Dark Millennium is a multi-faction game setup, we may instead learn that they have chosen a two-faction system instead. I would like to see this issue resolved once and for all.

Discussion of Vehicles: Probability Good
While I am not expecting a huge in-depth discussion or information about this topic to occur at gamescom, I do think it is reasonable to expect more coverage of vehicles in-game to occur. At E3 we learned that there will be player-controlled vehicles, including those that can seat multiple characters. I think it fair to expect that this information be mentioned again at the very least, with some elaboration on the topic.

Sargos Sector Information: Probability Fair
As we already know that the setting of Dark Millennium will be in the Sargos Sector, I expect that at gamescom we will hear a little bit more on the setting. At the very least I think it fair to expect that some of the potential planet and environment types to be talked about, perhaps even with some examples shown for a few of them. In terms of visuals, I expect we may see some concept art at the very least and perhaps some in-game early footage of some environments as well.

PvP/RvR-style Mechanics: Probability Poor
Assuming any kind of realm mechanics for the factions will even be implemented in Dark Millennium, I do not know how likely it is at all that we may hear about them at this early stage. If something like this is indeed being worked on, it would not be wise to reveal too much lest the mechanics change as development continues. At best should anything like this be planned at all for the final product, I expect the mention any any discussion to be brief.

Concept Art: Probability Fair
It is hard to say what manner of visual presentation will be chosen for gamescom based on E3. I think a lot of folk were a bit shocked that Vigil/THQ chose to leap right out of the gate with an in-game footage 'trailer'. As such I am not sure if we may see any cool concept art for Dark Millennium or not, but it is hard to entirely discount the possibility.

Anyways these are just my initial speculative predictions, feel free to add your own!
